GST Council 21st meet

• The GST Council on Saturday decided to extend the deadline for filing returns.

• The Council also decided to set up a ministerial group to assess and fix the IT challenges faced by GSTN.

• The Goods and Services Tax Council on Saturday raised the cess on motor vehicles--mid-size cars, large cars and sports utility vehicles by 2%, 5% and 7% respectively instead of whole 10% increase effected in the law.

• The meeting took place at Hyderabad.

Successful test of third generation NAG

• DRDO on Saturday announced it successfully flight tested indigenously-made Nag anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) against two different targets at firing ranges in Rajasthan.

• The ATGM Nag has successfully hit both the targets under different ranges and conditions with very high accuracy as desired by the armed forces.

Indian Embassy in US set up helpline ahead of Irma

• The Indian Embassy in the US today opened a round the clock helpline for Indians in need of help in the wake of hurricane Irma.

• American officials said Irma could have a catastrophic impact on Florida when it makes landfall there.

James Anderson Became first English Bowler to take 500 Test Wickets

• James Anderson became the first England cricketer to take 500 wickets when he bowled Kraigg Brathwaite for four on the second evening of the third and final Test between England and Windiesat Lord's on Friday.

• Overall he became sixth bowler to enter 500 Wicket takers club.

IISc CGWB signed MOA

• Central Ground Water Board (CGWB), Ministry of Water Resources has entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Indian Institute of Science (IISc).

• This is for Development of ground water flow models and preparation of aquifer management plans for parts of Karnataka'.

• The MoA was signed by Dr. Dipankar Saha, Member, CGWB and Prof. V Rajarajan, Registrar, IISc, Bangalore

Water ATM at Nalgonda

• Minister Naini Narasimha Reddy has inaugurated another ‘Any Time Water’ kiosk, known as water ATM near Nalgonda crossroads on Thursday.

• Purified water will be made available at a payment of ₹ 2 per litre, and ₹ 20 per 20 litres of water at the machine, through a tie up between GHMC, HMWSSB and Natures Spring Eco Tap Pvt Ltd.

• The machines use technology provided by Josab India, a subsidiary of Josab International.

Mongolian PM Voted out by Lawmakers

• Mongolian lawmakers voted to dismiss the prime minister and his Cabinet for alleged incompetence and corruption related to the signing of government contracts with companies linked to three Cabinet members.

• A majority of lawmakers from the ruling Mongolian People's Party joined with members of the opposition to pass the motion demanding that Prime Minister Jargaltulga Erdenebat and his 14-month-old Cabinet resign over the granting of contracts worth $328 million.

Karnataka tops in Manufacturing

• Karnataka has topped the list of manufacturing excellence followed by Kerala, according to an ASSOCHAM study.

• Karnataka has the best manufacturing process ratio of 2.63 with a maximum value of goods being converted into finished goods valuing over Rs 2,000 crore.

Hand Book released by BCCI

• The book titled '100 things every professional cricketer must know', was released by the Committee of Administrators (COA) of BCCI and is in line with the recommendations of the Lodha panel.

• The document will be the official handbook for all the cricketers registered with the BCCI.

Sloane Stephens won US open 2017 Women Singles

• World number 83 Sloane Stephens clinched her maiden Grand Slam title on Saturday, defeating fellow American Madison Keys.

• Stephens beat world number 16 Keys in straight sets 6-3, 6-0 to clinch the title.
